The new Weatherby's are made in JAPAN (like everything else now a days). First you really need to find out just what type of game and terrain, 300WM is a BIG GAME long range cartridge...300+ yards and not only will that Weatherby cost a few grand (with out a scope) that ammo is around $40/$50 per box of 20 rounds OUCH!

There is nothing wrong with a Browning, Ruger,Winchester and Remington. If he is a good shot and maybe hunting Elk, on the light side a 270 is a good choice, my pick is a 7mm Remington Magnum.
Big Brown Bear and Elk look into 338 Winchester magnum.
Deer/Muleys etc. look at a 308 or 270.
Scope: short to medium range/thick/wooded areas, 2X7x40mm (or 50mm if you have the extra cash). Medium range a 3X9x40mm or 50mm is a nice choice. Long range Big Game Open Country...4.5X14x 50mm is the best and what's mounted on top of my Browning A-Bolt Medallion in a 7mm Rem Mag.

This may be alot to absorb but don't be in a rush and last of all, don't spend all you'r money on a good rifle then purchase a cheap scope. If anything you could pick the rifle and let him by the scope.

I hope this helps, good luck.

Consider a Remington or Browning since Winchester is effectively out of business.

I would also consider the .300 WSM rather than the Weatherby Magnum. Nothing wrong the Weatherby but the newer round allows you to have a shorter action that is a bit lighter and easier to carry. Also shorter actions are generally "stiffer" and that is an aid to accuracy. The power level is about the same. The only single drawback I can see to the .300 is if you reload your own ammo the case necks are pretty think and it makes for a tougher time reloading, and the ammo can a bit more expensive but not much. For most people this not really an issue so they won't buy more than one or two boxes a year.

Good luck!

Well, if that's what your dad wants check your gun dealer for Weatherby Rifles. The .300 Weatherby Magnum is proprietary to Weatherby rifles and I'm not sure Winchester has a rifle in this load. They do have their top of the line Model 70 in .300 Winchester, but that is a smaller .300 caliber cartridge than the Weatherby.

Good luck.

This may sound funny - but honestly, go to Wal-Mart. If they don't have it, which they likely won't, they can order nearly any long gun you want, for generally the best price. Ask the guy behind the counter. Winchester will be hard to find, since they have shut down the rifle works in Springfield. Remington, Ruger, or Weatherby themselves are all fine weapons. For a list of weapons chambered in 300 Weatherby, check the second link below. Good luck.

Winchester no longer makes any rifles other than a few reproductions of older discontinued guns. Now, there are odd exceptions, but for the most part the only company that you're gonna find with guns chambered in .300 Weatherby are the Weatherby rifles themselves. Like I said, there are a few others, but they're hard to find.

.300 Wetherby is one of the better hunting cartriges, and many different manufacturers make rifles for it.
However, if I were you, I would consider the Ruger No. 1 over the Winchester. It has better accuracy over longer distance and better block construction for more stability..
btw, the .300 Winchester Magnum would be easier to find in the Winchester family than the Wby.

Step one. Always wear protective gear, that will show others that this is an airsoft game. Step two. never..NEVER sight in on someone who is not playing. Step three. At the FIRST sign of law enforcement drop the airsoft, keep your hands in the open and do EXACTLY what is asked of you. Anything that may darken or obscure the orange tip may prove to be dangerous. Law enforcement officers when they respond to reports of an individual brandishing a firearm are very tense. Do not do anything to make them more tense.

The discount stores that sell firearms will have the best price. If you have a specific gun in mind and can not get it at a discount store then a gun shop may find it for you.
