I have a very old signed original painting of some sort. It almost looks like tiny pencil marks. It is a muted colored scene of a canal and some buildings. It is 8x10 and the artist has written "The Canal" on the lower left side and signed the lower right side. What I am trying to find out is the artist name as I cannot read all of it but it looks like it starts with Zudi..and then mabe an m. I would love to know the artist name and any other information anyone might have.
Thanks!

Take a photo and send it (or email it) to a reputable auction house like Christies or Sotheby's to authenticate it.

Auction houses do not and will not 'authenticate' works when

A) the name of the artist is unknown

B)it is not an artist who's work they typically sell.

If you think the painting is old, and by that I mean 19th century or earlier, bring it to a gallery that specializes in works from that period.

If that's not possible, send a picture to me (one full picture, one close-up of the signature) at argaven3@yahoo.com and I will try to tell you something about it.
