When you pull someone over and walk over to there window. Are you ever afraid that they will try to shoot you, in your genitals? I know it seems like a crazy question, but for some reason the idea keeps frightening me.

''GENITALS" Where did that come from? Approaching a stopped vehicle some times you get a feeling questioning yourself as to just what are you getting into.

The fear you might have is for your whole body not your genitals. That fear must be unique to you.

Never really thought about it that way. You my friend, have given me and others I have shared this with a whole new worry. But if you approach the vehicle from the passenger side, which is the protocol I suppose your genitals are safer than approaching from the drivers side. Now we need bullet-proof vest for our personal pieces.

They won't have enough time to reach out of there window and shoot at that sort of an angle...by that time you should've reacted and they would've been dead. I am not a police officer, but I tend to use common sense. And why the fixation with getting your balls shot off?
If anyone would do that it would be a vindictive ex.

traffic stops and domestic calls were the two operations that always made my hair stand on end.

you have to be careful, be sure dispatch knows exactly where you are, run the tags for ID's...just follow your training, the rules are there to protect you and your stopped vehicle.

never give a perp a chance to get you...stay out of his direct vision...never stand right outside the window, always behind the driver's left shoulder so you can see him, and he can't easily see, grab or shoot you...

it's all in the manual, developed over decades of practice.

as a police officer, I really never thought about it much. Now you have frightened me my friend!!!!!
I bet you it has happened.
they teach us now when we do a traffic stop, approach from the passenger side, using the car as cover, and do not expose your total body, use the door frame part of the car to partially cover your body,
now I have to go look for some bullet proof underwear!!!!!
