You need to ask specific questions to find out is a particular nursery is the right place for your child. Some questions to ask are:
Are you licensed?
What are the qualifications of the people who work there?
Are background checks done on your employees?
What sort of experience do the workers have?
What is the ratio of child care workers to children?
Where are the hazardous supplies (ex: bleach) kept?
What will be my child's daily schedule?
What sort of snacks do you serve?
What is the policy if a child comes in sick?
How do you discipline the children?
What do you do if a child is injured?
Are the doors to the facility kept locked? Can a stranger get in easily/can my child wander out?
Can I stop in to visit at any time?
There are a lot more questions you should ask, that's just a few to give you some ideas.

A nursery or childcare facility will not be able to watch your child 100% of the time if there are other children there. But for the most part, these places are designed for children. There shouldn't be a reason to worry about a child getting hurt so long as you check the place thoroughly and ask for referrences. A 1yr old doesn't neccesssarily need to be watched all.the.time.
So just do your research and your child will be fine!
They gotta grow up sometime!

My 2yo has been in nursery since he was 6 months. We've just had another and if it financial sense I'd put him in as well. In nursery your child is taught an important lesson....social interaction.
You do need to do research...find a good one...if your in the UK check out a company called Just Learning.....they have nurseries throughout the UK and are very good.
Another thing to remember is they will look after your child 100%, but they will come home with bumps and bruises. (It got to a point were I had to sign the bump form every day for about 2 weeks when he was just starting to walk)
Good Luck

You are being over protective. Nurseries are great. Lots of interaction with other kids, lots of fun. Potty training. Very safe, qualified staff, very clean. My son really enjoys going to nursery the staff are lovely.
I used to have a girl come to my house to look after him, but at about the same age (14mths) I thought it would be better for him to mix with other kids so I sent him to Nursery. Best Thing I ever did But the first few times it is pretty rough, they cry and you feel horrible- bear with it though it soon stops.

now i disagree with hayles.don't tar us all with the same brush-you'll have a lot of very worried parents out there.i'm a registered(thought i'd get that in cos some aren't) childminder who used to work in a nursery and if i was choosing it wud be a minder every time.there's more one to one care and a good childminder has excellent relationships with the children and their parents-you can't fake that.there are some excellent nurseries out there, but try to go on recommendation.i'd suggest trying to find another minder-again, recommendations arealways best

Confront the older women human beings and tell them to move slowly decrease back less than the rock they got here from. really, what might want to a 21 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous woman have in person-friendly with a 14 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous, what might want to they communicate about, the position might want to he probable take her for a date, to the park? Do you snigger at the same time as him and his acquaintances say "he has been banging women human beings on the grounds that he become 10" because how might want to he recognize what to do at age 10, except his surroundings is that corrupt. you're preparation him to be disrespectful, to haven't any self properly worth and he has an finished life prior to him. i'm hoping you all bypass for some help.

I AM FRIENDS WITH A LOT OF CHILMINDERS, AND TO BE HONEST I WOULD NEVER EVER LEAVE MY KIDS WITH ONE, AS I KNOW HOW THEY COME ACROSS TO THE PARENTS AND HOW THEY ARE WITH THE CHILD IS VERY DIFFERNT.
NOT ALL OF THEM, AS I HAVE ALSO CHILDMINDED IN THE PAST AND I TREATED THEM LIKE I DID MY OWN.
I WOULD BE HAPPIER TO PUT MY KIDS TO A NURSEY RATHER THAN CHILDMINDERS, IF I HAD TO.
SORRY IF OFFENDED ANY CHILDMINDERS OUT THERE, AS I SAY NOT ALL OF THEM ARE WHAT THEY SEEM, BUT A LOT OF THEM ARE GOOD. yOU JUST CANT ALWAYS TELL
