A friend with 2 labradors who are a few months older had the same thing with his, but my pup now hasn't eaten at all since yesterday. It appears that she is being fussy and some people have suggested buying chicken and cooking it for her but i don't want to startmaking a rod for my back. Any suggestions?

just let her go she'll eat when hungry might try putting a small amount of food in its dish and add a small amount of warm water on it if she does not eat in 3 days call your vet

If you are really concerned visit the vet with your pup. If your dog is getting a lot of exercise then it should be eating but maybe it is what you are offering that is putting it off. Check with the previous owners or wherever you got him/her. Change of diet might be the problem. You will not be making a rod for yourself by cooking chicken for the dog and taking out all bones first, and then mix with some cooked rice and a few puppy biscuits. A little juice could help too. You can cook a supply of rice and chicken and freeze some and keep a smaller amount in the fridge for use within a couple of days. No more time consuming than opening a tin. It is what I do for my dog.

My dog did this for a few days recently. It was also strange because she is normally a very quick eater - and will eat just about anything. Turns out the vet figures she had a virus. Just not feeling well can make them not want to eat. If it's been more than a few days though, you should probably at least call the vet and give details to see what he thinks. He may want to see him. In the meantime, try putting a little peanut butter in his food. You may have to switch it up if that works - peanut butter with food in the A.M. and then maybe chicken broth with the food at night. You can also try treats such as a bully stick. It will at least get some protein in him and he may not be able to resist the real meaty chewy treat (and it's much safer and healthier than something like a rawhide!). Make sure you also try to get him to drink water!

You're right not to want to make a rod for your own back. If she seems other wise well, carry on feeding her her usual food. If she doesn't eat it, leave it down for no more than 10 minutes. Pick it up and don't offer her anything until her next meal time. Keep doing this & once she's hungry she'll start to eat. At 7 months, she's finished her main growing & may not need as much food as previously. Give her a choice - take it or leave it - she won't starve to death (especially not as she's a Labrador!)

your dog may have a gastric problem is known in some dogs that for example they cannot and will not eat meat have you only fed your puppy meat or have you tried another diet i/e try giving the puppys boiled rice with chopped chicken (fresh chicken)or try pasta ...ok so maybe your puppy will not get all his vitims and minerals out of this diet but there are addertives you can put into his feedat leased he is getting some solids into him to hell with making a rod for your own back think about the health of your young puppy. failing that plz seek profesional advise from your vet the sooner the better

If she doesn't want to eat she is either not hungry or she isn't well. Fit dogs seem to be permanently hungry so my guess is that your dog is unwell and I think you should have her checked out by the Vet.

She could have an infection or she might have eaten something which is upsetting her stomach.

When my dogs have been ill and are recovering I give them cooked chicken or fish as it is easy to digest and tempts their jaded appetites. I have no problem getting them back on to their usual food once they are OK.

You can boil hamburger mix with scrambled eggs or rice, our vet told us to do that for our dog. But also try changing his food, she might not like it. And aslo make sure she is drinking lots of water. But to be on the safe side check with the vet..good luck

Don;t worry Just feed her as you should she will eat when she wants to. If she leaves the meal leave it for twelve hrs then remove it and replace with fresh If it persists go to the vet.

My Aunt had a great dane that was doing something like that and she took him to the vet and they said it had something to do with the intestines. The vet also said they also see cases were its just worms. I would take her to the vet. Hopefully you just have a picky eater with gas! Hope everything is okay with your puppy.

Yeah the best thing you could do would be to take her to your local vet. She could have swallowed something and its making her sick. You never know and b/c they cant talk to you makes it 10 times worse.A Vet. would be the smartest thing to do!
