About an hour on the peage. But at that time of the year the coasts may experience an annual phenomenon called the "tramontaine" - fierce (up to 100km per hour) winds. Not much fun.

More pleasant at that time of year is inland areas. Carcassone is on the river network. The surrounding area, the "Pays de Cathares" is culturally significant and geographically beautiful. The food and wine are amazing, and if you can, try to get a table for lunch at Michel Bras' place in Laguiole (3 star Michelin). One of my favourite parts of France.
