Yes. Many times.
But do not depend on any retreat for your day to day living.
The Society of Friends run some great retreats, as do various Convents
(I am neither a Quaker nor a Catholic so I have no vested interest in saying that)

I went on one to Notre Dame with my snobby high school class. It was so fake because they made us do all this bonding garbage and all the snobby kids pretended to be caring and the next day, they were back to their own selves. I haven't been on like a spiritual retreat that's geared more towards just yourself getting in touch with your spiritual side. Now, are you talking about like a Christian retreat? The one I went on was not helpful at all.

It's just another way to release stress for me.
I'd rather just do something that I've never done before. Go to a foreign restaurant, shop outdoor, rent a movie that you would never thought of renting before, go hunting, try some Japanese anime, If you got money to spare, hit a trip to a foreign country...learn martial art, try some karaoke, plant your own garden, learn to cook. While you are making a complete *** of yourself, at least you will forget whatever it was that is bothering you and people around you will benefit from it.
Well, if you're me...then the first thing to do is turn off that tv and the computer.
Spiritual time for me is before bed, just a little self reflection on where my life had been and where I want it to go. A ton of laughter and stress, but never a thing for me to be ashame about.
hah, but if you do listen to me and try your first time with cooking ... I just might take back that comment about people around you benefiting. lol

Yes, they are very helpful in clearing up your mind and getting your priorities in line. If you are a Christian, even more so because it can be a time to be still and know Him.
