The only person responsible for my happiness, is me, myself and I. Happiness doesn't come from things, position, even from people like loved ones and families, happiness comes from within you.
It's true that our happiness factor may be pre-programmed by our genes, but we also have a choice to choose happiness or not .
If you're not familiar with it you should read the book Authentic Happiness by Martin Seligman, prof at U. Pa.
I don't know about veils being lifted I just know that I am responsible for me , what I do , what I think, what I say, how I act and I bear the consequences of that .

You said fractions within a religion kill each other? What does that mean? I have never heard of a fraction killing anyone. Only kidding. BB

Indeed I do. Ditching clinging and attachments to things I used to think of as "happiness" and recognizing the impermanence and causes and conditions of things around me has made me very "happy". Less is more.
Thanks to the Buddha's teachings, little flashes of insight are constant.
