My son is separated from his wife, and they have a 2 yr. old. He lives about 125 miles from her. He can't take her out of the county where she resides until she's 3. So, he has her for the day, and it's 34 degrees and rainy out. Where can he take her to have an entertaining day with her? My place is hands-off, because we have dogs, her Mom said not here. I know we can take her to the malls, out to eat, any more ideas? Should my son go get a hotel room while he's here for the day?

I don't think a hotel room is neccessary. The mall by me has a play area for children, but if yours doesn't that isn't an option. Is there any way you can keep the dogs put away, or is allergies the problem? It would be nicer if he could stay with her in a comfortable place rather than in public. A lot of people don't realize it, but the atmosphere in which a child visits with their parent is a huge factor in how they react to the parent. I know this from experience. I was much more calm and comfortable with my dad at his home, or at a home than at the mall or other public place. So consider putting the dogs outside or in a room until the visit is over. It is the least you can do for your son and grandchild.

I would say chuck e cheese too , there is a place around here (it is a national chain) called My Gym that has mommy (or daddy) and me classes but that will only fill up an hour or so, Color Me Mine is another place, you can buy ceramics and sit and paint them together, a hotel room would work but he better have lots of toys and entertainment otherwise it could get boring pretty fast. I dont know what area you are in but we went to the Griffith Observatory last night and surprisingly my 2 year old son loved it! I was thinking of taking him to the Aquarium of the Pacific too (also indoor) , I wish i had a specific website for you to check out but i know they are area specific, maybe try a local entertainment search on the web, they usually have a category for kids entertainment.
Hope this helps

Any place with an indoor play area, Mc Donald's, Chuck E. Cheese, Hardee's, some malls are kid friendly like that, a local Children's Museum, a regular Museum, get a hotel room and take advantage of their pool, rent movies, play games.

A hotel room might be a good idea, in case his little girl gets sleepy. Maybe he could take her to the movies, although I'm not sure how a 2 yr old would do in the theater. I don't know, what's there in town?

the YMCA is a fun place for kids. an indoor swimming pool is also fun witch they probably have at a hotel. my husband loves taking our 22 month old to the indoor pool and water slid. She was a little scared at first but after he took her down the slide once we couldn't keep her out of the water. How big is the town she lives in? I haven't taken my daughter to chucky cheese yet because there isn't one near by but i have thought about it and i think she would love it.

We have a place here called the Jumpzone. It is only $7 and your child can play for hours. They have games and all kinds of jumpy things. Also, Chuck E Cheese is a good place to eat and for her to play.

Just take them into your home. Put the dogs in a room. If you dont see them often let them visit with you.
