I think I'd say that you value her friendship hugely, she's the best friend that you could ever have but, sorry, you are straight. But add, with a big smile and a warm hug, if you ever changed your mind and became a lesbian, then you know she is the first person you would want to tell!
I'm sure you handled it fine, your friend obviously knows you're straight and I'm sure this hasn't complicated your friendship in any way.

Probably react in completely the wrong way. Sad, but true. The important thing now is to get in touch, say how much you value her as a friend, that you won't tell people about what she said, and that you need to have a talk about staying friends( but nothing more). Difficult to give any more advice, because it is such a delicate situation, but I hope you both can sort this out.
