I have had a nose piercing for five years and never had a problem until now. I use the kind of jewlery with the ball at the end (the screws won't stay put). The jewlery I use no longer goes all the way through the side of my nose. I think there is tissue build up on the inside. I think I touched it too much trying to get it to go through that I caused soreness/redness and finally pus. I took it out over night and that helped. Now I have it back in but I am wondering if there is a problem with not having the piercing go all the way through?

What you should do is go back to your piercer (if you don't see him/her regularly, go to a piercing parlor that you trust) and ask their advice.

What I've usually been told is to put some sort of salene product - some people refer Bactine, some are against it. Usually sea salt water is recommended most widely. It HAS to be SEA SALT, though, and dilute a small amount in some water. Anyway, put the salene on a Q-tip or spray it directly on your nose. This should help with the infection.

as far as getting the piercing back in, since you've had it for so long, I'm guessing that there's only a small amount of tissue blocking it, you might want to try lubricating the ring/your nose with some Vitamin E oil (which will help by lubricating, and Vitamin E has healing powers and is usually used for acne (could help with the pus in you infection) and scars (the big hole in your nose) and just shove the ring through.

Or you may want to be more safe by just getting it re-pierced. But, they might pierce NEAR the original piercing and not right on top, as that is now scar tissue and would be harder - and more painful - to pierce.

Long story short - go to your piercing parlor and ask the professionals.

If it doesn't go all the way through then the inside is probably closed. Nose bones are terrible jewelry though. The bulb tears the tissue every time you take it out or put it in. Why not try a micro nose stud? The shape is similar to a labret stud, but it is sized for a nostril piercing.

If you are dead set on nose bones, then just get a longer one that actually fits your anatomy.

Take the jewelery out and let the soreness heal, after 5 years it should stay open but what you may have is the piercing can collapse inside ,when it has healed put some Vaseline on the jewelery and pull your nose until you stretch the hole as much as possible then gently push the jewelery back through.

dont use bactine, it has dyes in it, and breaks down your healing cells(cant think of proper way to say it). Use dial or some kind of gel soap, that has no dyes or frags. Sea salt helps infections. Remove your ring. And start over, the same thing happened to me using that type of stud n ball. And u can use a and d ointment to help heal up.Give it a couple days, if it doesnt help then see a doc

you need to go to the place you got your piercing done at or another piercing parlor and sak them what's up. they might have to redo the piercing and it should be free if you go to the original place you got it done at.

Get some "bactine" from a local drug store to help beat the infection. DO NOT use neosporine or anything like that because it will heal the hole.

Sounds like it might be infected. Time to see an MD for antibiotics.
