HEARNS - W 61 (KO's 48) TF 67 - W pct 94% - KO pct 84% - wins over Cuevas, Duran, Benitez and Hill - KO'ed by Leonard, Barkley and Hagler - #18 ranked puncher - #67 ranked fighter
He would have been ranked in top 10 or top 20 if it were not for his lack of stamina and chin
Much better boxer than given credit for
W. WRIGHT W 51 (KO's) TF 55 - W pct 93% - KO pct 45% - wins over Trinidad, Mosley and Quartey - KO'ed by none
As of 2005 he was #5 ranked pound 4 pound current fighter
This could be a boring fight. Winky is not a KO artist. Hearns was one of the greatest slugger/boxers or all time. If Hearns can't burst Winky's guard, I pick Hearns in a 15 rd unanimous decision.

Brent this is a very interesting bout. Hearns has that long reach and pulverizing right hand and Wright is a very elusive and quick boxer not known for power. I believe the first 6-7 rounds that Wright would try to stick and move but would get hit by some good jabs from Hearns. In about the 9th round Hearns finally catches up with the elusive and quick Wright and sends him to the canvas with one of those pulverizing right hands and wins by knockout.

Yeah!....this would be a good fight! Great what if!!!
Question..."Could Winky take what Hagler weathered in the opening rounds of that fight...and then still have enough heart to knock Hearns out!" Whew! I don't think so!
Hearns was awfully accurate and had the quicker hands. Hearns would have to temper himself and chop Winky to pieces eventually knocking Wright out between 5 and 8 rounds of some vicious fighting from both as Wright is a gamer for sure!
Boy what a fight though!!!! High voltage to say the least!!!!
Good One!

Hearns would have ended any pound for pound talk about Wright had they met in the ring,Hearns would have destroyed Wright in under 5 rounds.

Thomas Hearns could box (Virgil Hill, Wilfred Benitez, etc) or slug (Pipino Cuevas, Roberto Duran). Too much talent for Winky Wright, a very good fighter but one notch below.
