She is trying to keep two lives, but don't care to keep the other one, who is a part of the life she wants to keep. This is serious matter that your dad and the police have to handler. Tell your dad and your brother to think hard, and do the right thing.

OMG I would say she is not a stable person, drinking is no excuse for taking a knife to someone. He may want to a mother for this child, does he want a father for her? I believe she is not safe around the child. I came from a very violent alcoholic mother, I feel in time she will turn her anger on anyone including the child. She needs help!

That is so scary! I know that people do alot of bad stuff when they are drunk, some don't remember it and some just claim not to remember it. She could need some psychiatric help, or needs to just quit drinking. You should act around her how you feel. If you are close, there is no reason to cover up your real feelings about it. I wouldn't make a scene at the party, but you don't have to be overly friendly.

People do crazy stuff when they drink to much. Sounds to me like she is really crazy when she drinks. So i would recommend to your brother that he insist both of them going to AA to quick the drinking or atleast cut back on it. She could really have some major emotional issues that your brother doesn't know about, she may need mental health treatment.
All you can really do is talk to your brother and give him some advice. Forgiving her isn't possible until she actually does something about her problems. If she does do something about them then you'll have to forgive her but not until.

When she does something to you.... just make a scene like what's your deal here? I mean surely your parents or brother will come over and you can explain. If that doesn't work, do something bad to her, that might make her stop. I'm sorrry :/ sounds horrible

Talk to her about the incident. Suggest she quit drinking if she doesnt remember what she does. She could hurt the child also. That may convince her to seek help. Good luck

It must be hard, but I think you cant do anything except try to get over it since your brother has forgiven her. As long as she is in your family it would be better to try to get along, but I am sure it will be difficult. If anybody did that to my brother I would be furious. Nobody says you have to love her though!!

Act like it never happened. They both were so drunk they don't know what happened. What if he did something to her while they were drunk and she was retaliating? Does that change your image of the night. You should encourage both of them to never drink again. What if they had (or did since they don't remember) done something to their baby????
It shocks me that most of these answers do not address the fact that they were BOTH drunk. If she is psycho, so is he!

Your not the one that need's to forgive her that is your brother's job.It is also your brothers job to make his own decisions it does'nt sound like this woman is very stable she need's counseling.Ans just because your brother has a child with her is no reason to stay with her.

Well, sounds like she was drunk out of her gourd, and felt pissed at him for some reason. Just dont let her near any alcohol and it should be fine.
