What does the Bible say about whether we will be able to see and know our loved ones in Heaven? When David’s infant son died as a result of David’s sin with Bathsheba, after his time of grief David declared, “But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me” (2 Samuel 12:23). David assumed that he would be able to recognize his son in heaven, despite the fact that he died as a baby. The Bible declares that when we arrive in Heaven, we will “be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is” (1 John 3:2). 1 Corinthians 15:42-44 describes our resurrection bodies: “So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.”

Just as our earthly bodies were of the first man Adam (1 Corinthians 15:47a) so will our resurrection bodies be just like Christ’s (1 Corinthians 15:47b). “And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality” (1 Corinthians 15:49,53). Many people recognized Jesus after His resurrection (John 20:16, 20; 21:12; 1 Corinthians 15:4-7). So, if Jesus was recognizable in His resurrection body, I see no reason to believe that ours will be any different. Being able to see our loved ones is a glorious aspect of Heaven – but Heaven is far more about God, and far less about our own wants. What a pleasure it will be to be reunited with our loved one, and worship God with our loved ones for all eternity

one of the answers said that you would not miss your friends and loved ones in heaven as sorrow and pain don't exist there. it sounds an awful lot like the stepford wives. very spooky, i don't think I'd like to go to a place where they suck your personality out and mess with your mind. and even if what they say is not true, wouldn't heaven be hell without those you love.

Yes. The Thessalonian Christians were apparently very concerned about their Christian loved ones who had died. They expressed their concern to the apostle Paul. So, in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, Paul deals with the "dead in Christ" and assures the Thessalonian Christians that there will indeed be a reunion. And yes, believers will recognize their loved ones in the eternal state.
We are told in 2 Samuel 12:23 that David knew he would be reunited with his deceased son in heaven. He had no doubt about recognizing him. As well when Moses and Elijah (who had long passed from earthly life) appeared to Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration (Mat 17:1-8), they were recognized by all who were present. Furthermore, in Jesus' story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31, the rich man, Lazarus, and Abraham were all recognized by each other in the intermediate state.

Like someone already said, if you and your friends and loved ones follow Jesus Christ, you will. However, in Heaven, EVERYBODY will be a friend and loved one.

I don't believe in heaven. The idea was made up so people would not think they were going to be alone after death. The reality is that when you die you are DEAD. No thoughts or anything. The best part is, you won't know your dead, because you will be dead!

It depends on what they believe, if theyre christian the chances are very slim, if they arent christian they have more of a laid back attitude towards life and theyre more likely to be in heaven.

Yes, if you are all believers. But the Word tells us that there will be no marriage in heaven, and that we will know as we are known. Thanks really cool . . . to know as we are known!
