I used to work for a podiatrist. Anyone can have bunions....They are thought to be hereditary. They will only get worse over time especially if you wear shoes that are tight. Sometimes they become painful. The only way to get rid of them is surgery. As far as your ingrown toenails go....don't pick at it. It will get alot worse and infected. Go to the podiatrist. If you have chronic ingrown toenails he can take the sides of the nails off permanently. It is not as painful as it sounds...it is done with a local freezing. The ingrown toenails will not heal themselves.

I have both, so I feel your pain. The bunion is caused by the big toe joint being forced sideways from wearing very high heels or shoes that are too tight or too short for your feet. It may also run in your family. Wear comfortable supportive shoes when it's bothering you, and stay off your feet if you can. Soaking in warm water helps sometimes, also take some ibuprofen if it's really painful. Make sure your parents know about it too. If it gets really bad, there is surgery for it, but I don't know if they would do it on someone as young as you. Check with a doctor.

For the ingrown toenails, first soak in warm water so your toenails are soft. Then use a toenail clippers and cut them off straight across, not down at the corners. Make sure you keep them clean under the nails and use an antiseptic cream on them or a little hydrogen peroxide, so they don't get infected. This will make them feel better too. Tell your parents too, because if you have an infection you'll have to see a doctor and possibly get some antibiotics.

Good luck!

You do need to see the Dr., a Podiatrist is a foot Dr. Also talk to your mom or dad or whoever you live w/. MAke an appt, they'll explain everything to you. It won't be bad. It'll be like a free pedicure that your insurance will cover.

It's not just old people, my mom had them a lot when she was in her 20s and 30s. Unfortunately, I don't know what to tell you. My mom says I have my dad's feet. All I know is that you shouldn't wear high heels.
