This morning of NBC's Today show I briefly caught them talking about toothpaste helping with acne but didn't catch the end of the segment. Does anyone have more information on this? Thanks.

I too caught the segment. The conclusion was "Yes" it does.

However, I would agree with the other people that it is good for spot fixes. Benz Peroxide works the best and you can use it more easily over a large area. Hope this helps.

Toothpaste is good for spot-acne treatment. Don't leave it on your face over-night, and don't try to cover your whole face with it. And whatever you do, don't use whitening toothpaste; they contain a little bit of bleaching products and you'll end up with a pale face...or pale splotches. I'd recommend using something like Arm&Hammer because it has a lot of baking soda in it---baking soda can kill anything, in my opinion. But if you really want a great fix, try an overnight face mask---they might smell funky but they can dry out tough zits.

Dotting toothpaste on a pimple can help dry it out but the best remedy I have found is to use ice on your face, it helps calm inflamation down. After using the ice on your face for at least 2-3 minuyts, blot your face with a towel then put on your acne medication. It makes a big difference, especially with cystic pimples. Good luck!

I used it when I had one huge random zit once and it did dry it out but it made the skin around it red painful and dry for like a week which was basically worse than the zit itself. If you're going to try it do it on some random zit like that, preferably not on your face in case you react simmilarly. I would never use it to treat an overall acne problem. If it's more than one or two I would go see a derm.

It works for a small pimple and very rare outbreaks, but it does dry you out as well. There is an awesome skincare line that has a Medicated Acne Treatment , that is amazing and the only product line that has helped my daughter that has VERY BAD ACNE , and myself that I have now been fighting off Adult Acne. The company is called beeroyalproducts.com and the skincare line is bee-luscious. You can check out the site, very cool

I've found it works. If I see I'm getting a zit I put a dab of toothpaste (white paste) on it and the next morning it's pretty much gone. That's because the toothpaste dries it out.

While it took little less than two months for me to really see a difference, my acne, blackheads and whole lot of other skin problems I had such as eczema had completely cleared! It was totally amazing...

I have heard this before and tried it resulting in a terrible experience. Toothpaste will dry out pimples, but can also burn your skin. I tried this when I was 16 and I still have the scar on my face from the burn.

I suggest you use witch hazel or benzoyl peroxide 10% to dry out pimples instead of toothpaste. It is way to harsh for your skin.

To tell you the truth, instead of dabbing toothpaste on a zit, try benzoyl peroxide or Mario Badescu's drying CREAM (not lotion) toothpaste doesn't work that well in my opinion.
