You only need a checking or savings account if you decide to use a secured card. Secured cards are usually only used with people that have poor credit.So assuming that your credit is good the answer is NO.

no - unless you are getting a secured credit card with like a 500.00 max then they will want money in a savings or checking.
Debit does as well.
