By the involvement of people I mean do lots of people get involved at Roman Catholic Churches, if so what is the typical thing people get involved doing?

I suppose there are just as many things to get involved in at a Catholic Church as at any other church. I teach CCD (like Sunday school). Some people are on committees that take care of the more practical stuff (preservation of our building and grounds, special events, charities, etc.) Then there are those who aren't in the decision making process, but make all of these things come to fruition. Some sing in the choir, take communion to the inferm, serve at the altar, etc.

There is never a lack of work to go around, and I believe that this makes the parish a closer family when we work together.

The rundown at MY parish goes something like this. It's pretty typical.

We have 8 Masses each week, 5 in English, 3 in Spanish. Each Mass requires 4 altar servers, 5 Eucharistic ministers, 2 lectors, 4 ushers and a sacristan. Takes about 128 people per week and we have over 300 trained for these services so that they don't serve each week.

There's the Religious Ed. dept., with this year some 765 youngsters from kindegarten through 6th grade all of whom need to be taught their faith. That requires about 60 trained catechists, all drawn from the parishioners.

Then there's Youth ministry for the teenagers. They're a busy bunch, with retreats, lessons, preparation for Confirmation, public service. This year we have 480 such and another 38 parishioners for teachiing, chaperoning, etc.

The Music ministry has a choir for each of 5 of the Masses, with 8 to 10 members per choir. They rehearse each week and then refreshments are served. Those are usually provided by our Home ministry parishioners. The rest of the week they visit shut-ins, nursing homes, hospitals, and day care centers, seeing to the needs of the residents.

We have an active social life here as well and a whole bunch of people to design, set up, carry out and clean up after each one.

Then, because we also have a school (kindegarten thru 8th grade), there's a full sports program, with volleyball, soccer, basketball, football, and baseball seasons, all overseen by parishioners whose kids are usually enrolled in one or more of said programs.

We have a multitude of purely religious activities as well. Holy days are well attended and many include pageants, plays, concerts, prayer services, rosaries, etc., all handled by parishioners with church staff to watch and make sure it goes well.

We have a Funeral ministry, where people undertake to help grieving families. We have a Marriage ministry for couples having problems. We have a ministry for engaged couples so they won't be going into the Sacrament starry-eyed and pig-ignorant. We have a Community Outreach ministry which works in concert with area churches and synagogues to assist the city in helping the helpless, the homeless, the poor and the sick who are not church members, but are still children of the Living God and therefore our brothers and sisters.

We raise money for our expenses, for our ministries, for the needy, for the school.

We have 4,600 registered families and there's plenty of chances for every one of them to be active in the Faith. We have no shortage of those wishing to participate more fully in the life of the Church.

Hope this helped.

That varies from church to church. Ask any local Catholic friend .....they will tell you.
You could go and see...they will not bite you.
No, I am not a Catholic.

in a nutshell, they perform needless and worthless sacraments ( infant baptism, confession, saying rosary, praying to Mary, confirmation and believing a priest can forgive one's sins. ( to name a very few)
Ephesians 2: 8,9 states God offers a free GIFT of salvation. Our works are useless in His eyes. You cannot EARN a gift.
Once one accepts Christ as their personal Savior(become born again..see John 3:3), THEN God EXPECTS good works, not as a requirement for salvation , but to show the world Christ really IS in us.
They also call a man (pope) Holy Father and a man (priest) Father. This is nothing but BLASPHEMY! There is only ONE Father, God Almighty! And Him and ONLY Him can forgive sins.
