Hello,

(ANS) YES!! this is a familiar problem to me, this is caused by windows temporary internet cache becoming full, & then also the machine itself plus the internet connection runs out of enough working memory.

**Thus your right! "ending the process" in this situation would indeed release some of the stuck memory.

**TWO ANSWERS:-

a) your computer might need some extra or additional physical memory (especially if its windows 2000 or XP) and this would help relieve this problem.

b) The second solution to this problem is to adjust or modify your windows swap file, this file (pagefile.sys in the root of C drive) creates the machines vitual memory which is used by both internet explorer (or your browser) and the internet connection itself, & for data that makes up web pages. Virtual memory is made up from space on the hard disk so its slower than real physical memory (from chips).

**Rule of thumb here is increase the page file size in windows by physical memory plus a half. So if you have say 512megs of memory then you can set the page size to between (min)750megs to 1GB (max). It doesnt have to very precise only approximate.

Having enough vitual memory will also give relief to this problem.

**Finally a good cache cleaner program like "Clean Cache" version 3.5 (freeware) used after each internet session helps avoid these sorts of problems, also has the advantage of protecting you from downloaders as they get wiped too from the temp cache

**Clean Cache can be downloaded from :-
http://www.buttuglysoftware.com/

NOTE: Clean Cache does require MS dot net 1.1 but that also free if you need it, many machines have it already though. The address for dot net is also on the website.

Hope that helps?

Best Regards IR

You are possibly running too many programmes or you have little hard drive space left. Get rid of the dross. Defragment and go to:
tools: Internet options: delete cookies: delete files include delete all offline content: clear history. Go through all your files in add/remove programmes and dump the rubbish.

Make sure your computer is not suffering from virus - if you have Anti-virus try using it to check the status of your files, folders and data.If your computer is free from viruses and the problem still persist, i am afraid you will have to check your system to make sure the power supply unit and processor fans are working fine, and also make sure all connections are intact
