Having worked as a waitress many years, it is always the Dreaded day of the week. 1. Because the majority of church people are extra rude, and 2. They are generally bad tippers.
Any insight?

I guess it is surprising because Christian means Christ like, and the purpose of Christianity is to seek and save that which is lost. I thought????? I thought Jesus was a kind man, and christians were trying to be like him???

I have never worked in a restaurant, but I have heard stories about church people having bad reputations as dining customers.
For some reason, going to church gives a lot of people a "holier than thou" attitude. I guess a lot of them are high on the teachings that they are doing what is right and everyone else in on a highway to Hell unless they start going the right way.
I don't go to church anymore, but I used to be one of those people who went every Sunday, and usually caught a midweek service as well. I can say that a lot of people in church are plastic, just putting on a show in hopes of getting their obligatory brownie points for getting into a good afterlife, and have little to no interest in trying to be good people.

Well, there is really now excuse for bad behavior. Yes, when people get out of church they should always strive to act Christ like. People go to church now a days for all the wrong reasons. Some think Okay I went to church so now I can go back to being rude and nasty. Don't think so. I'm sorry that these people are giving you a bad sense of what Christians are like, we are not all like that.

I have worked in the service industry for years and am so sick of these "people" thinking that they don't have to tip.I work at the front desk of a hotel, I give people 20 min. rides to the airport in a hotel shuttle (a cab ride that would normally cost around $25) and find time after time these people refuse to tip even a dollar!
cheapskates!
I'm friendly to them and try to fill the 20 mins. up with casual small talk. Most of the time I have to lift their luggage into the shuttle and back out when we arrive to the airport(I am only 5"2'and 115 lbs. so this is no small feat) Still no tip!!!
My husband used to travel for business and I know that most companies put allowances in their expenditure accounts for tips, I really just think that these "people" are slime of the earth and they're pocketing the money that is supposed to be used for tips. I hope all of you non-tippers out there get the point!
What comes around goes around.
Karma will always get them in the end!

I am truly sorry for those people and it seems that they either must be going to the wrong church or they do not listen while they are in church... I don't know or any denomination that does not teach a person to be both courtious and kind... Again I am sorry for them as they are the few that make the rest of us look bad and perhaps they don't even realize it...
I wish there was a polite way you could remind them of their manners, like asking them what church they attend... Maybe that would remind them of the God they should be representing!

Yes, as hard as we try to be "the likeness of God", I'm sure we fail terribly in everyone elses eyes. That's why we are called human and i should think you are too! As for the bad tips, it might have a little to do with giving money already to the church during offering and for the bad mood...i think anyone who goes on a hungry stomach, hearing the preacher do what he does would get anyone feeling irritable!

Church is here a way to meet and gossip afterwards outside the church. I think the church is much overrated to be honest, it is just a social gathering but for the wrong reason because i believe God doesnt want a house where you can pray to him. I think people should pray where ever they are. Your church is your heart. Thats what i think in my humble opinion.

A lot of people who claim to be Christians are very mean-spirited. I'm a Christian, and I don't even go to church often, and I have a better disposition than most. Could be that they are very hungry. I know when I get out of Church, I'm starving. Church will do that to you.

I don't know but I use to be so angry when I would get home from church. I never understood why. I guess I am just a selfish person. I never was rude to a waiter though. I just acted mean often when I would get home from church.

It may be that after leaving they may be realizing their sins of the week or year and it is bothering them. Or it could be that they don't like the rush of people out of the church, or it maybe that baby in the front row was crying the whole time. But if you really want to know go to church and come out and see what happens.

Because too many believe just because they show up for Church on Sunday it gives them the right to act like total bastards the other six days of the week.
