Children(no matter boys or girls) should be potty trained when they start walking, which means somewhere between 12 and 18 months.

There is no correct age for potty training. The experts say that you should start potty training at 18 months. You can only start trying to potty train if your son shows interest. My son was potty trained at 23 months, just before he turned two. He told me he wanted to potty and he went from there. Boys, in my opinion, are easy to potty train. Or, at least my son was. You just have to have patience, and keep encouraging the potty thing to him!

Good Luck :)

Boys generally take a little longer than girls. In my experience as a teacher and parent most boys are trained around 3. The important thing to remember is that the child has to be ready, if you push it it can cause problems later on in life. Call your child's pediatrician and ask if they have any tips or information available for potty training.

The ages differ. The best way to go with it is to observe whether they know if they're wet or they have poop in their diapers. You'll know when they're aware of it.
And don't try to do it too early, because all you'll do is frustrate yourself and him. Usually around 2 or 3 years old is a good time. You want to be sure he's old enough to understand what you're talking about when you say "go potty" and babies younger than two or so really don't know.
I have 2 sons. Son #1 had it down when he was about 2. Son #2, it took until he was about 3 1/2.
He'll catch on. Just be patient and make it fun. (Here's a hint...put a few Cheerios in the toilet and have him do "target practice." Little boys love that.)

well i think there are alot of factors that go into this. My son wasn't fully trained until almost 4. By fully I mean washing his hands, flushing etc. I think it is more difficult for boys because a a general rule they do two different functions two different ways. my suggestion sit for everything he can stand when he gets it all in place. make the potty available and be prepared for no privacey. he need to see how things are done. don't make a big deal about pooping 'cause they can hold it for weeks and that just causes a whole different set of problems.
If you are fortunate to be a stay at home mother perhaps it won't take as long. if you have to go to work (like I did) it's an entirly diferent kettle of fish. you need to speak to your caregivers and follow what they do because your child is with them for a longer period of time and their routine should be respected.
also take into account what is going on in your childs life. we had just separated, and switched caregivers three times. only once out of choice. even good changes like a new sibling can cause set backs.
my little guy still doesn't make it throught the night every night. thank god for overnight pull ups but we celebrate each dry day.
be patient it will happen. know you are not alone I know lots of parents who where in my situation.
good luck

both my boys were trained completly right before there 3rd birthday. both kids i told if you don't go on the potty your not getting a party and it worked both times, a little harsh i know but diapers suck! i have had nephews that didn't train until well after 4 but my feeling was the parents weren't sticking with it.

you should start as soon as he can walk. take him to he bathroom with you so he can see what the toilet is for. buy a kid toilet and let him "play' with it. get used to it. he doesnt have to "go" everytime he sits on it.
