I don't think it's anything sexually because he's only 10 weeks old (we're going to neuter/spay him at 6 months as our vet recommended), but he started to hump my arm when I rested it atop of my knee sitting down on the ground o.o I heard it's dominance...is it? He only did it twice in a short amount of time -- I gently slap him from behind and say "no." So I'm just wondering if he does it again -- is there a "best" or most effective way to stop this quickly?
(I also took his stuffed toy away)

At 10 weeks, its unlikely to be an issue with dominance, although it can be in an extremely alpha type personality. In that case, you will usually see others signs of attempted dominance as well. (aggression, contention in training, etc.) Almost ALL male puppies go through this humping phase. They are simply practicing to be stud dogs when they grow up. You will notice this behavior in even younger pups still with their litters. If properly discouraged through verbal/physical correction, your puppy will realize that humping people is an unacceptable behavior. This type of humping behavior itself will generally go away with maturity. I recommend neutering only after the pup starts lifting his leg to urinate, which may be later than 6 months depending on the breed. Neutering earlier may result in a dog that never lifts his leg and wets on his front legs instead.

Give him his toy back. It's ok for him to hump and dominate a stuffed toy. Much better than to do it with you. If he does it to you, hold him up at eye level and say NO! loudly. Do not "slap" him anywhere. He doesn't learn anything this way.
And yes, it is correct that this is a dominance issue and not a sexual one.

Say No firmly. The flip him on his back and stare him in the eyes until he looks away. Then ignore him for a while. For a puppy a minute or two is enough.

There is a book called How to Make Your Dog your Best Friend the Alpha Wolf method. Its written by German monks who live with German shepards.

If it truly is an issue of dominance then you need to be calm yet assertive in dealing with the consequences for this action. you should come up with a better consequence for this action too. a simple slap and a "no" is just not enough. Have you crate trained him? If so, give him a firm, NO and put him in his crate for 20-30min (with a towel over it if its in a room you are in often). If not try give him a firm NO and then move him to a spot away from you and ignore him for awhile. during this time of ignoring make sure you don't put yourself in a situtaion where he could just come back over to you and repeat the action. goodluck!

Ah...this is a common problem. Many dogs I know do this and it's normal. You are right, it's not anything sexually, my dog is a girl and when shes in heat she tries humping my sister. Dogs just do this, it will stop. Hope I helped!

It's just normal puppy behaviour. Just consistently keep telling him no. He's only 10 weeks old - you don't need to be worrying about "dominance", simply say no.

It is instinct only. Do not slap him for doing it. You can say no no or whatever but realize he isn't doing it with any knowledge why. Males are worse about it than females. Have him fixed when old enough.

You have to hump him to show you're the boss. Really, I saw this on the Dog Whisperer.

Give him a firm no and give him a push away. My cousin's dog use to do that and my uncle just tells him no K.O. and he stopped right away and sits down. I hope this helps.

The best thing for you to do is listen to your vet and get him neutered.
