Because she isn't well trained and she gets rewarded every time she does it. In otherwords she gets attention good or bad whenever she jumps on you. She needs to learn that unless she is behaving in a calm manner, not jumping she won't get any attention.
When she jumps don't look at her, don't speak to her, don't acknowledge her in any way..turn your back on her (she may jump on your back so be aware)It'll take time for her to get the message but believe me she will.Dogs do what works for tehm and jumping on you is working for your dog.

She's obviously not well enough trained. This is one the first things a dog learns in training, dogs should not jump. If you've had her to a training school, I suggest you take her back. If not, get a book on training. The previous answers are too severe (except for Walter) for a young pup or to permissive. If you don't get it done right, you risk making your puppy afraid of you or able to walk all over you. Good luck.

Part of it is obviously that she is a puppy and puppies are exciteable.
The other part? Hate to break it to you, but no, she's not well-trained. If she were, she would not be jumping on you or she would stop as soon as you told her to. You need to work with her more -- you can stop her from doing that with positive reinforcement when she doesn't jump on you or when she stops when you command her to. Since she's just a puppy, it will take some time.

She's just excited. Puppies have LOTS of energy. I'd continue to discipline her as you have learned to do (I'm assuming you've researched training puppies or been to puppy school with her), and take her out to play frequently to use that energy. She'll calm down as she gets older and continues to receive training and discipline.

She's still a puppy and has lots of energy. Jumping on you is her way of saying "Let's go out and play! I'm bored!" Plus it might also have to do with the type of dog she is.
