Last night, one of my girl-friends told me that I was a "womanizer." I was extremely offended by this, esp. because I think its not true and that it was unfair to label me that without really knowing anything about me or my current dating situation.

She was suprised that I was offended and told me that she thought every guy wishes he were a womanizer. She felt that she was giving me a compliment. Wll, I was drunk and continued to be fairly pissed off at her for the rest of the night.

We've since mended the friendship - but I wanted to ask...

Do you think its a compliment or insult to call a guy (who is your friend) a "womanizer"???

Personally - I think its a huge insult - but thats what yahoo answers is for - seeing what all of you think.

I'm suprised you think of it as an insult. She was probablty under the impression that you'd take it as a compliment, because the way I see it, guys always want to be "one of the guys" and being a womanizer means he could have any woman he wanted to and he's a ladies man, etc. However, women obviously don't like this and think of these types of guys as "dogs" and think that they're taking advantage of them. So while it's cool with your buddies and guy friends to be a womanizer, women look at the term negatively whereas men look at it as a positive term.

Congratulations for not being a dog.

Even though that's what a lot of men are, I think it SHOULD be an insult. Maybe your friend didn't know exactly what a "womanizer" was herself so she thought it was a compliment

Definitely NOT a compliment. A womanizer is a man who does not value women and goes throught them like nothing.

Its an insult. If a friend told you this it wasnt probably meant as an insult. If someone you didnt know said it , it would be different. just my 2 cent.

Its an insult for sure!! Its nothing to rave about. Being an womaniser, you would have no respect for the woman, & view her only as a sex object.

Womanizer means that you have woman's one after a other(so many).Casanova is a better and more friendly word.
She might use the word womanizer out of jealousy.

It's an insult. It means your a player. But in your friends defense, maybe she doesn't really understand what it means.
