When you truly know the meaning of love, in my opinion, it is better to love. You are giving of yourself, emptying out what God has given you to others. Whether they take advantage of it or not really has no effect upon you when you think about it. It's on them. I have been taught that the more you give - the more you receive. When you have a heart to love and for love, love will readily come to you. We are so busy worrying about being hurt, taken advantaged of, etc. If we just take more time to get to know people first -learn what friendship is, allow them to show what is inside of them, then we would be more careful about making those errors. I'd rather love. Being loved means that people are always giving to you. I would rather be the 'giver'.

With out a doubt, to love. Being loved can make a person feel trapped and awkward, that is if they don't resiprecate. Being in love feels so pure and unconditional that you are sure that you at last have a reason for living. Of course, in an ideal world, you have both...*sighs*

It's exactly the same question when you give someone a present!
You are happy often better that the person who received the present!
So I think that it's better to love!

But of course the best of the best is when it's mutually!

Love doesn't take advantage...unkewl people do. What's best is both, to love and be loved. One-sided love is unsatisfying for the one who loves, and can be awkward and comfortable for the one who is loved but doesn't return the feeling.

its better to love in the end you can't have one without the other you have to take the chance of being hurt and let people in even just for friendship or you'll miss out on a lot

Its nice to be loved, but takes a lot of energy. When you love someone else, it makes you feel vulnerable and you are never quite sure if they love you as much back x

nothing can be better than to love and be loved (by the person you love). however, that rarely happens in reality. if you wanna experience the joy of giving unconditionally and making someone happy without expecting anything in return, then "to love" is better. if you're scared of getting your heart broken, then "be loved" is better for you.

That is like asking is it better to dance or be danced. Real love is a joint venture that happens to both people simultaneously and only because it is happening to both. So in real love, thankfully, THAT particular question becomes moot.
