Some of the smaller, local pharmacies around here do deliver. And a lot of them don't charge extra. You can also use mail order for maintenance meds and that delivery is free. Some pharmacies have drive throughs, which isn't nearly as good as delivery, but at least you can stay in your car. I know it stinks to be sick and have to sit in the doctor's waiting room way too long, and then have to go sit in the pharmacy and wait way too long. If you're sick, you need to be home in bed, not running errands.

Actually, I used to work at a Walgreens Pharmacy back in the late 80's and early 90's. I had to deliver the presciptions to the eldery and home bound customers.
While I enjoyed doing it, the elderly are so starved for attention and someone to chat with, I would end up spending at least 15 minutes with each one (often more) and end up getting yelled at by my boss.
The eldery and homebound often needed help with various household duties. I remember setting alarm clocks, changing lightbulbs, fixing necklace clasps, opening pickle jars, hanging pictures and looking at 100's of pictures of grandchildren.
I would have loved to stay and talk with them, but my job was to drop the medicine off and high-tail it to the next delivery, so I often felt guilty or for not staying or guilty for stayng.
Needless to say... Walgreens stopped this nice delivery service and I went on to other things.
By the way... safety is more likely why prescriptions are not delivered. The delivery person would have drugs, pain pills, anti-depressants... you name it. They would be a target for drug seekers & other dangerous types.

Mine delivers----mailed to my house--insurance requirement for maintenance drugs. If you want to pay higher cost for medications I'm sure the pharmacy will deliver. Personally, I'll save a buck or two where I can and go get my non-maintenance medication from the local drug store.

not really, already there is the manufacturer, the deliver people who then take it to the wholesaler and warehouse,,, then the delivery people who take it to the company/pharmacy's warehouse, then deliver it to the actual pharmacy,,,,,,, all along the way it can be tampered with,,, right now alot that is happening is that drugs are being replaced with fakes,,,,,,,,,,, so finally,,,,,,, to have one more person (the pharmacy delivery one) have access to your prescription? no, i wouldnt want to,,,,,, and also at that level,,, i think the lest background/security checks would be done,,,,, so safety is my main concern

Don't hold your breath waiting for the big chain druggist like Walgreen's, CVS, etc. to start delivering. The only ones who deliver now are the mom and pop drug stores still in existence.
