3 pounds ground beef
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
plain bread crumbs

2 cups tomato sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 tablespoons vinegar
1 tablespoon white pepper
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
dash of ground cloves
dash of ground allspice
3/4 cup grape jelly

Mix beef, garlic powder, salt, eggs and bread crumbs (just enough to hold the meat together) with your hands. Form into 1 inch meatballs. Brown on all sides in butter. Place on paper towels to drain.

In a slow cooker, combine remaining ingredients. Add meatballs and cook on high for about 5 to 6 hours.

This can also be simmered on the stove for about 2 to 3 hours.

This is for a party-size serving of about 200 meatballs.

Are you using veal or pork, I am partial to pork, there moister, and are you using cooked or raw potatos??

Once combining the meats or meat, I use a dash of nutmeg and thyme for spicing, and combine them with the potatos, egg and mix throughly.

I prefer to cook them in a combination of oil and butter, sauces are up to you, lingonberry or I make a sauce similar to the one with swedish meatballs (metbolen), I add extra cream and mushrooms and cut back on the dill.
