I'm a black woman married to a white man and I do get stares. I think it takes time to accept this. It has taken many years for black men to have acceptance for dating white women. I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that it is easier for women to be more accepting.

I am white and my boyfriend of 5 years is black and I don't really see what the difference is. A lot of people don't accept it any way (black man, white woman or white man, black woman.) There will always be racism. It doesn't matter what other people think, you can't help who you fall in love with. My boyfriend and I have been through it all. Getting pulled over no reason, police pulled over while he and I were walking because they thought we were arguing and we were playing and walking. But we don't get messed with anymore in my town. Girl, it doesn't matter, screw them people who have a problem, including family members. (and I know all about that) My family loves my boyfriend and It took a little for my dad to come around but all is great now and hopefully for you too!

Good question!! But as a Black female involved in an interracial relationship (he's Hispanic and White), I don't understand why it was mostly the bruthas sweatin' me and mines! I said nothing when I saw "them" out with their White girls, so why would they be sweatin me? Personally, I am not bothered to see a Black man out with a woman of a different race. Turn the tables though and it's a totally different situation. Good thing I'm not one who gives a **** about what othe people think or say though, huh?

Are you a black woman? If you are, I understand where your coming from. I have problems with black men disliking the fact that I have a white boyfriend.

I remember my friend (black guy) - that week he had just found out his white girlfriend was pregnant. We were out in town and I comment on this white guys hair (he had afro hair). My friend turned around and said... ''why you so obsessed with white men!'' (..in a disgusted tone of voice, of course). I didnt say anything too him because I was so shocked by the fact that he had a problem with me and my interest in white men and then he's got a white woman pregnant.

I think a lot of it has to do with men in general - feeling superior to women.

In Korea it's more acceptable for a Korean man to date a foreign woman, then a foreign man to date a Korean women. It comes down to the fact that they don't like their women marrying outsider from other countries.

A couple of reasons. One a lot of Black women are reluctant to date White men. Two, White women look more like White America's sterotype of what an "attractive woman" is supposed to look like. Three, for some Black men, having a White woman is a status symbol, like having a Cadillac or owning a big house in the suburbs.

I'm white and I date mostly black girls and people look because they're not used to seeing it as much.

Black dudes are the main ones who sometimes don't like it, but everyone else is cool about it, including black females.

First I've heard of it. I thought it was the other way around. But then again, my 80 year old New England mother, who is in all ways a conservative person, said the other day, "What does it matter? A hundred years from now, we'll all be mixed colors and it won't matter anymore." Every person has an opinion.
