The biggest problem is most people don't have enough fiber intake in their diets. This can be compounded by lack of water intake also. I suggest drinking more water and eat more fiber foods. One thing that I know works, is to eat a bowl of oatmeal daily and drink at least four bottles of half liter water daily.
To get things moving right now, I suggest a mild stool softener such as Dulcolax. Most normal laxatives are harsh and can cause cramping.
Give this a try and as always, follow up with your regular doctor should you not have any success in getting things moving again. Diet and water are the keys.

Well, you cannot "cure" it, really. All you can do is drink lots and lots of water, to soften your feces and eat as much vegetables as you can avoiding carrots, rice and sweets (these make your feces much harder and it will be more painful).
Take a walk for about an hour or two and take a bottle of water with you. Go to the toilet like every hour and "push" a bit, stay there for a while; if you don't succeed, don't stress and go back an hour after...
Your period is contributing for this situation so I guess this is the only thing you can do to help.
Sometimes, putting a hot water bag near your belly helps...
I know what you're going through but I'm sure 'you're going to be fine. The fact that you can do some, even in small amounts, is very good.
Hope this helps!

You could try eating prunes and/or drinking lots of coffee. Do you know of any foods that give you 'action'? Like, for some people, donuts or McDonalds food could send them to the bathroom within an hour or so. You could also try milk of magnesia, but I don't know if you would consider that to be an enema or not. That works, but it make take a few hours.
Actually, you could also try just a hot water bottle on your stomach and relax. Maybe your period is just stressing that area out. Make sure you drink enough, too.

up your intake of fibre with proper brown bread and brown pasta etc. eat some fruit with the skins on like apples. then every so often drink some hot water - you'd be surprised how much this helps. i would recommend you you use colax aloe vera colon cleansing tablets. these are natural, gentle laxitives that work over a day or so and tomorrow you should find you go to the toilet ok. take two. you can get them in chemists. also massage you stomach firmly, kneading with your hands lowish down. if you sit in that yoga position where you sit in that kneeling position than lower you body towads the ground so that you stomach is compressed by you legs that really helps too.
if you do all these things you should be fine

Increase your fiber intake. Be cautious of laxatives. Magnesium Citrate is a good choice to help things get moving. Stool softeners can help, just use short term. If these methods fail, talk to your doctor. There may be a problem that he/she needs to help u with.

If you drink two 12 ounce bottles of beer, good beer, not light, before going to sleep, you should be nice and loose by morning. Beer is a natural laxitive and quite mild in tha effect. Also, you should increase your water intake a bit. hard stools suggest that you are not drinking enough water.
