If someone just wants to be a friend and you've been in a recent relationship with them, what should you do? If you feel the person has kind of been loosely playing with your emotions, and if you feel that breaking things off may be better for you, how do you just not talk to them? Do friendships and connections end quickly?

If this person was playing with your feelings be glad they dont want to be in a relationship with you any more. Agree to be friends with them but dont let them to close to you again. Learn from your past no not to get involed with anything like that ever again. Being friends does not nessearlily mean you have to keep in contact with them everyday. There are now your freind a simply hi and bye can do ( no more long conversations in the night). If a relationship ends because the this person was not treating you as you deserve then heck no, you can't "be friends." A friend wouldn't mistreat a friend.

I find that being friends with my ex is actually better then the relationship was. You know sometimes you feel as if,they are playing with you,but if you've been in enough relationships, some people don't mean the whole line "lets be friends". He is going out of his way to be civil with you,and to create a workable friendship with the two of you.
I don't think you should avoid it,you'll be a better person for it.

I think if you think that breaking off is better for you, you need to go with it. and just be cool with your ex. and just move on with your life, and if it is in store for you to both get back together, once all the kinks, is ironed out, and you both feel that the love you both have for each other is so great, that you can't do with out each other, then, and only then should the two of you be together. it is no use waiting around playing games, that is the time to move on, and live your life, and have fun. Life is too short, not to be as happy, as you should be. Happy New Year!

Explain to them that you think it is easier for you to end the relationship all-together because you feel being "just friends" is strange after having been in a romantic relationship with them. Tell them it is less-confusing to you this way.
