my x-wife had these problems. it was a nightmare for her. she finally got a perscription for retina or retin-a. i am not sure of the spelling. it's very powerful. it dried her up. she had to use lotion for the first time on her skin. this was in the 80's so maybe their are new things out there. but it worked great for her. i think it is a mega dose of vitamin A. good luck.

She should stop using any make_up or harsh shampoos/conditioner, instead tell her she should use mild(for oily skin),with more natural ingrediants, some relly good quality products for washing her face and hair.Washing hair twice a day is not a good thing at all. Instead make up she should use some relly nice wipes to refresh her face. Tell her to eat plain youghrt every day in the morning very first of all, this will help her balance PH and get her less oily problems. She may also use mud mask or a mask made from gram flour mixed in water as face mask, these two masks are very good for relly oily skin but the best quality of them is home made. Else she should stop any junk or oily/fried food instead she should only use fresh fruits, veg and simple water(not cold/fizz drinks or any tea/coffee).

washing her hair so often may be a problem...so altough it is oily she should stop washing it twice a day...step by step she should accustom to wash it only once or twice a week. and the shampoo is also very important. she should search the one that is the best, not to use the same if it makes her hair oily.and about the skin...this is more difficult. try going to a special shop with special products.someone will be able to help her after seing her skin. and tell her to stop using foundation!!!it only gives the senzation that the skin is less greasy.it is very, very bad if you use it all the time.
i hope she'll be fine, and i'm shure that she is beautiful altough she has a litle "problem".;)

I too suffer from poor skin and have found the only products that work for me are Clinique, does a fantastic anti-blemish range and though it's quite astringent it really does work. Clarins has alot of very good cover ups and foundations that don't clog your pores up so act as both makeup and skin treatment.
For hair i'd advise keeping conditioners and serums to a minimum and just using good quality shampoo like Charles Worthington Dream Range and Toni and Guy.

She should see a doc first of all, and probably try NOT to wash her hair and face that often - washing oils away too often will only stimulate the skin/scalp to produce more sebum.
Tell her to use soap-free face washers and a very gentle shampoo.
She could try the Himalaya stuff, it's natural and very mild, I tried their products for oily hair'skin and liked them.

If she is using conditioner tell her to stop! Also be sure she rinses her hair out extra well because left residue will cause the hair to get extra oily extra fast! Just use shampoo everyday and condition maybe 2 times a week. I dont know what to tell you about the face...except to use oil-free makeup...hair is more my specialty.

the reason why her hair and skin look so bad is because sh is washing them too much. What she needt to do o sort this out is only wash her hair once a day and wash her face twice a day. If she starts to do this, it will be bad at first but it will slowly start to get better and plus it is much easier. `i hop this helps. Good luck! x

Tell her not to massage her scalp when she showers for a long period of time. Don't let her scalp get too hot because those two things stimulate your sebacious glands on your scalp. I would recommend getting a scalp treatment using an astringent. This hsould dry out some of the oils but it's not permanent. She's gonna need to keep doing this. don't use moisturizing shampoo's or anything.

please have her see a dermatologist... i used to have really oily skin too and was constantly washing my face with "oily skin" stuff but it turns out the stuff was too harsh and my skin was producing excess oil to protect itself... a dermatologist gave me stuff for sensitive skin and after about 3-4 weeks, my skin was much less oily and has stayed that way for about 4 years...
this may not be the answer for your friend but it's amazing what a good dermatologist will know!

i think she might be overdoing it. your hair naturally produces oil...the more you wash it out...the more it's going to produce. same with your skin. too much make up will cause it to produce more oil. maybe she should cut down on her hair washing...to every other day....true at first it's going to be pretty gross, but eventually her scalp will stop producing so much oil because it's not being stripped of the oil it needs. as for her face maybe she should try just a light powder instead of liquid foundation. the powder will cover up the oil without "suffocating" her skin.
