Normal is 63 days from the 1st day of breeding. The best way to tell when your female is going to whelp is to start checking her temp anally twice daily beginning on the 56th day. Normal temp for a canine is 100 to 101 degrees. When her temp drops 1 degree she will whelp within 24 hrs.

63 to 65 days. This is a great time for a thorough vet check to make sure your pet is in good health. Your vet will also be able to help much more if there are problems during delivery if he knows the pet's medical history. He can also give great feeding and care tips to help you be better prepared for the 'big day'. Good luck.
