There Should Be a sticker on the tower\or case of the computer containing the 25 digit product key.

somebody could have given you a real product key, yet your subject is the thank you to activate that, the XP OS you have put in on your workstation desires activation and would not have the comparable serial no., i'm helpful they are able to stumble upon that once you activate this.

Use the belarc adviser software (you can download it for free from crucial.com as they use it for a memory checking tool for customers).
In its report it gives you the keys of any software it can identify... including the OS.
If your OS is dead... then you probably have to buy the product again. In effect you lost the license to use it when you lost the key.
