I do. I had all but given up on government and the ballot box after W stole the last 2 elections. But this great lady seems intent on setting things to right. ...She can convince you that there's nothing a neocon can break than a liberal can't fix. LOL!

A new day of hope dawns over America!

Yes, you know the ethics bill passed, and that will go a long way to clean up that mess.

America is on her way back !

I feel that it was not so much either party that has caused a mess in D.C. in the last few years, but the decisions that have been made and the dynamics of those who were in office working against each other.
Nancy Pelosi has kept her word to us so far. The House has made several important decisions, and the bills that have made it through the first phase of being passed are good for the American people.
Whether she will keep on track, or veer to the side as Bush did at times - and all people do- is still to be seen. Hindsight is 20/20, foresight is generally the luck of the draw. Let's hope this was a good choice for Speaker of the House.
On another note- it is a great step for women!

Actually depression. She is the least competent politican we have seen in decades.

If a liberal had a plan it would be nice to know. Unfortunately they never tell us.

Right now the economy is the best in the history of the world. After Nancy gets through we will be back in the recession that Clinton left for President Bush.

I was elated after the November elections because they proved to me that the majority of the country feels like I do, and that my doubts about Bush's ability to run this country were confirmed. But I am even more optimistic after seeing how vigorously the rightwingers are attacking Pelosi. You know if she didn't have plans to destroy this clusterf**k of a government the neocons have created, she wouldn't be drawing so much hatred from her opponents.

It's a good sign! The pendulum is starting to swing the other way, it's time for the good guys to take charge.

Hope and Optimism? Not anymore than I felt when the republicans had control. I was under the impression that the corruption in DC was bipartisan. We shall see how well Ms. Pelsoi 'sets things right'. Or you may find that things are pretty much the same no matter who is in charge of Congress.

It is way too soon to tell, but things are looking better. Now she needs to work toward getting our boys home and out of the quagmire over in Iraq. The Dems need to get their cajones up and not fund further escalation. If Bush doesn't have the money to fund this fiasco, he will be forced to bring them home. Hell, with the money we save, we could build a fortress around the US if people are still worried about the terrorists bringing it here. Which they won't if we are dilligent and put the resources where they will be utilized more to our advantage.

Hmm, after hearing about her energy bill on Thursday, cutting tax incentives to oil companies (OK, I do agree with that - when executives are making billions of dollars recently when consumer prices were at all time highs) and adding new fines and taxes to the oil industry, forcing renegotiation on established drilling contracts, and of course their party's ongoing resistance to future drilling.........Prepare yourself for another skyrocket in gas prices. WE THE PEOPLE should all know who is going to pay these new fines and taxes - US!

If this bill passes the senate, it surely will be vetoed by W. If that veto is overridden - God help us all, because the new cost of oil and gas will make the after-effects of Katrina look like a mild spike. What the Dems fail to realize is the cost of oil (translated to the cost of consumer fuel) ALSO impacts everything else in our economy - shipping, farming, manufacturing, wages, EVERYTHING is dependent on oil in one way or another.

We should be trying to maximize our own oil production, AND focus on the transition to alternative fuels AND more efficient technologies. Science has already made a number of breakthroughs - we need to start seeing these put into production.

Hmmm... not sure. The Dems have their share of corruption too, as somebody else laboriously pointed out. Frankly, there is enough graft out there to satiate both parties. I can come up with a list of crooked Republicans at least as long as his list of crooked Democrats. Woo-hoo.

Give it six months anyway, then ask again. We will all be in a better position to judge what she is doing at that point.

PS - Give a vote of thanks to Arlan Spectre, the only one who managed to slow the steamroller down in the last 6 years while you are at it. Not all Repulicans are Neo-cons you know.

PS #2 - Neocons are NOT conservatives.

Please think for a moment. First of all, the dems are just as corrupt as the GOP. Secondly Bush won the second election, he only stole the first one.
