I'm not sure if it's mean to not leave it on or if it doesn't actually make any difference to my dog if it's on or off.

We started off with one light...Then it became two. Now it's one by the door, one by the stairs, and maybe another one. I would personally just leave a small nightlight on...but my wife thinks otherwise :)

It depends on the time of day. If I have to leave for awhile and it's morning or during daylight hours then no. I open the blinds and make sure the apartment has natural light.
If I have to leave and it's evening or I know I won't be back until after dark, then I leave my lamp lights on in the apartment on the bright setting (they're three way lights). I think having the light on makes a difference for my dog.
I occasionally leave the TV on depending on how long I will be gone. If I am going to be gone for a few hours, then I leave the TV on. If I will be gone shorter than that I won't leave the TV on.

Because I have 2 dogs who are getting older and definitely can't see well at night any more, I leave 1 light on for them - to make sure they can do stairs safely.

I leave the light on if I know it will be dark when I get back, but that's more for me, than for the dogs.

of course we do think about how you would feel if you were home alone with all the lights off and it was dark outside ? I hope you leave the light on for your dog while you are gone . good luck and I hope I helped.

Dogs have very good night vision and do not need to have the light left on.
I do not have a dog so I leave the light on for the mice and cockroaches!!

Don't think it makes any difference but i still leave a light on for my dog-i'd feel bad if i didn't.

They can see in the dark. I don't leave the light on for my dogs.

We leave the light on for our dog. I don't think it matters when it comes to the dog. It just makes us feel better when we leave her. My husband also leaves the tv on for noise.

I don't usually leave the light on when we go to work because it is light out still when we get home, but I always leave the radio on for him. I figure that he must get bored and I think the radio keeps him company.

I think it doesn't matter to them. We leave the light on in the backyard at night...which tends to make them bark less. Dogs do see in the dark...so don't feel guilty...and just turn the light off when you go.
