Constantly on the look out for fleas but have run out of Frontline. Cat is not scratching so OK at moment but I wonder with the mild weather has anyone else's cat picked up fleas because they're normally a summer problem.

Cats can get fleas ALL YEAR ROUND. The fleas hatch when it's warm, and, although it might be cold outside I'm sure it's pretty warm in your house?! Also, the fleas will lay eggs in carpets, bedding, clothing - anything - so it's impossible to say that there are no fleas.

Also, as the cat would eat the fleas while grooming, they would be very hard to spot. And if kitty eats the fleas, kitty could end up with worms. And THAT is not nice.

I would really recommend using Frontline, but I know it's quite expensive. A flea collar will help, but is not as effective as Frontline.

Have a look at the link below. Hope this helps xxxxxxxx

Fleas don't die off in centally heated homes, they are now a year round problem. You need to treat you cat for fleas on a regular basis not just when they start scratching. Ask your vet for a can of Acclaim, it's about £15 and if you spray your whole house it will prevent flea eggs hatching for a year. It will also kill any other insect that dares to walk around your house for 6 weeks after you use it.

Get a flea comb and just comb her fur and look for the fleas. Or take the cat to a vet and they can check.
