Yes several. There is a filling, Now days there are really good medicated fillings( glass ionimer, flowable, Temp IRM etc...) so if your cavity is deep we can medicate the deepest part for some relief. There is a pin build up, if there isn't alot of tooth left we can put pins in it. If the tooth is needing a root canal there's that, and sometimes even after we fill it with the medicated filling you will eventually need a root canal because the tooth now is plugged up, not able to drain anymore. There's a post and core build up, this is where they actually put a post in the canal. After this they like to do a crown. Either way were I work we try our best to save the natural tooth, and even if you have to have an extraction there's always an implant if you have enough bone structure to support one.

Depending on the severity of the cavity. I know of two ways. One is removing the decay and filling it. The other is a root canal, that is when the nerve is removed from the tooth and is filled and sometimes supported by a dental technique.

You will have to get a filling in it to save it, if it is bad, you may have to get a crown put on but, it can be saved.
