I rent out my apartment which is above a restaraunt. I know all of the people that live here very well since i have been living here for over 2 yrs now. I have a cat and a dog - my pup is a malti tzu (maltese and shih tzu mix) she is like my heart. she only weigh 3 lbs full grown! anyways i am just wondering are there any such stickers avail. for your windows or door to let people know to bust down ur door/window in case of a fire to let ur animals run out or to save them? i think about this b/c the restaraunt is a bar also and that means drunk people and that means ciggerettes and that can only get bad.... any thoughts?

Yes there are, I have one on my window. You fill out how many animals of each species are inside, like mine says 18 fish, 2 cats, and 3 dogs so the firefighters know what to look for. You can get one from here:

http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer

They have a few different things they will send you free to help care for your animals like that sticker and a magnet with animal poison control number on it.

look in some of your local pet stores there are stickers to put on your windows and door that lets the firefighter know that there is a pet inside. There are different stickers for different pets.

Yes, there are stickers you can get for your windows that will alert firemen to pets being in your home. Tho please know that they will only attempt to save animals if it is relatively safe, and will not take the same risks to do so as they would for humans.

Yes there are stickers. Ask your local fire department. Sometimes they carry them. And your local humane society or SPCA may have them as well.

It may come down to the fact of you moving to feel more comfortable.

Check with your local Fire Dept. Some have those stickers. If not, make a sign yourself, place it in a clear insert and tape it.

I think they do feel comforted by the heat. We have a Yorkie that will get right in front of our propane furnace and whine. Then when it comes on he will lay right beside it. Then when it goes out he just starts whining again. Also, we have one of those little electrical heaters that we turn on to take the chill off of a small den, when that kicks on he will run and sit in front of it. He has even been in one room, then when someone turns on that heater he will run out to the den just to sit by it. He'll even bark at us and look at it as if to say "hey, turn on the heater".
