At my age it's not something I have to worry about. However I have a nephew who just turned 18 and I'm worried about him being caught up in a draft.

UPDATE - Regarding the previous answer, a bill reinstating the draft would have to be signed by the president. If he vetoed the bill and congress wanted to override it the vote would require significant support from republicans.

I've done my time and am now too old for any more service. But I do think that a universal draft with no exceptions would be the safest thing for this country - if everyone was subject to death in all these little adventures overseas, there'd be a whole lot more thought put into whether we should go storming around the globe stomping on things we don't like. People who've seen war are by and large the least likely to want more of it.

Probably won't happen, but as long as the girls are drafted to lets all remember the equality thing! Sure, it's my country whether I believe in it or not I would go. My luck is I would be drafted but cant win the lottery.

I think it would be really scary. If America gets into enough trouble to need the draft to fight in the middle east that means that everything is completely fout of wack. Honestly I may think it would kinda be cool to be enlisted and get a chance to go to Iran and fight but there is so much risk envolved obviously and I thiink I would regret it if it happened in the end. It would be like missing my prime years in life to go kill people in a country that we dont belong in anyways. But I would just be scared overall. I would probably join the Bundeswehr to dodge.

By guys you're refering to everyone right? Because in the next draft, women will be going to.

Also, if there is a draft for this war, you can blame dems for letting it pass through the congress.

I don't care who's to blame IF there is a draft, all I know is that while the government can pretend to tell me what to do, they sure as hell can't make me fight in a war I don't believe in.

if my brother was drafted i would be terified. firstly because hes my brother and i dont want him to get hurt. secondly hes not able to defend himself. he thinks hes all these things but he's not.

and i offended that u aim this question at only men because women have feelings too and we also get drafted.

More cannon fodder, more body bags, more grief, no result - enjoy the draft!
