When God created us He did create us in His own Perfect image. Women too, but sin has changed that image. We are no-longer perfect in God's eyes. That is why He sent His Son, in that perfect image, to redeem us from sin.

All these are mere speculation on the basis of some books written by humans. If what you say is correct, then who created God's image! This type of arguments are going on for generations without getting an answer.

The people who are saying man meant human - so is God a hemaphrodite? Freaky stuff...
Its absurd of course, this is just one way in which evolution has proven much in the bible to be false. For man to be 'made' in any kind of image he'd have to have been designed and we can see clearly that he wasn't. Unless you're talking about the blind watchmaker.
Don't get angry at evolution you theists - it wasnt meant to disprove your silly creation myth - its not anti-religion, its pro-truth... its hardly the fault of science that the two things are often the same.

one would think this image isnt necessarily a literal one...
its completely figurative as I can easily prove it as such:
God is All seeing: humans see in their limited way
God is All hearing: humans hear in their limited way
God is Merciful: humans show mercy too
God can create:humans can create things too in their own limited way
God is The most high: humans reach heights of power in their own way

If you took this saying from our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) , then it goes like this: "God created Adam (Man) in his image" where (his) refers to Adam. Meaning God created Adam in his (Adam's) image as Adam was and will be, in other words Adam did not evolve nor change, but he was created in his image from the beginning.
