to teach your children things like cooking , cleaning, laundry, shoping for food etc?
they all know they have to clean up after themselves but i mean the majior cleaning and stuff. i want to be sure that when they have their own home they can truely take care of themselves but i don't want to over load them and end up making them neurotic or something
any suggestions?

well you dont say how old your kids are but u have made a start by teaching the basics, My daughter is 14 and has known how to do all jobs in the house since she was 13. i found when i just told her i was on a mission to teach her to be capeable she jumped on the bandwagon and became proud of her achievements. She still hates doing it mind you but she knows how and thats the main thing! Dont overload them though because their main job at this age is their schooling!!

My son at 11 years old cleans the bathroom, keeps his room neat, helps straighten the house, sets the table, puts the clean dishes away and helps me with the laundry. He's been doing most of it, except the bathroom and laundry, for years now. I don't think there is an age too young to start teaching responsibility.

I think that you should just show them tips along the way! Dont overload them with cleaning and chores because they will just go the other way and hate doing them. Just show tips if your cleaning and let them try it. You could bring them along to the shops and ask them to help find the foods on the list.
