I have heard that after a year of having both phone and broardband, I should be able to ask not to have the phone anymore. I don't use the phone and haven't for almost a year, so would rather not pay for it. I have spoken to BT, but they seem unhelpful. If you have any source to refer to, I would be very grateful. Thanks.

You will still have to pay for the line rental, whether or not your telephone is connected.
You need the phone line to carry your broadband signal.

the phone line has to be activated but you can get rid of the actual phone

you would be wise to keep your normal phone because, if your broadband goes off(or your internet connection) you would not be able to make any calls (especially emergency calls)
