I have a test coming up where we have to run 2 miles in 14 minutes or less. The test was kind of sudden and I had no time to get ready, so I wanted to ask, how does someone run 2 miles in 14 minutes or less? If I haven't been running lately, what are the chances of passing the test? Any ideas to help?

The chances are slim, but with a little last-minute preparation you can pull it off. Don't over-fuel yourself or you might die out early, but make sure you eat and drink healthily.

You indicated you haven't run "lately". I assume you ran in the past or recently prior to this. Therefore, you may be in fairly decent cardiovascular shape to handle this run. After all, it really isn't as difficult as you may think it is. It's a seven minute mile and doesn't require a serious sprint or fast pace to accomplish. A faster jog may be enough.

Take a watch and time your pace. If you feel you are off the pace, step it up. But I don't think you should have a problem as long as you are in fairly good cardio shape.

Man.that is rough I feel for you.I guess your in some kinda of military group of some sort, school,or something because they are the only ones I think would push you that hard.Hit a stair master if available,if not actual stairs hit them hard perhaps with ankle weights or extra body gear everyday push your limit. If your in shape already use your mind and do it.

shouldn't be too hard...pace yourself a seven minute mile is a jog! If you are overweight and out of shape it maybe hard...people walk at 5 miles per hour...
