I use Acid pro 6, old version but I'm used to it. You can use VSTs (virtual instruments), and program them. cosmogirl is fun

Drums are difficult to deal with, especially live-sounding ones, unless you're willing to pay $100 for some sample CD... Loopazoid is a free drum editor I use, and I find drum hits off the net.

there are other professional ones (cubase, logic) which I'd recommend if you have a good computer... if you can already play an instrument, you can just record it, but that opens up a whole new can of worms!

so I'd go for anything that supports VSTs

If u must know Fruity Loops Studio is the best in the market.
and there are many other like ezdj, acidpro etc.

just search for them on the web with google.
check the link i gave u. u would find the FL studio download and it has other audio composers also.

gud luck making some hard beats.
