Good point. Athiests use their free will to question and contemplate what they believe/don't belive in, just as Christians do, or any other religion. If someone says you are 'used by the devil' simply for debating the topic, I reckon that's a bit extreme and it's the exception rather than the rule.

the free agency doesnt come when someone is possessed
however, the choice to be possessed does exist all around the world.
in fact satanic possession is probably very much like being possessed by the Holy Ghost. i think the same process can occur.
there are other subtle ways that the enemy of God and of righteousness can influence to make decisions without being possessed and there in happens the free will to choose.

Right there with those atheists, They have let satan influnce them to argue, They did not have to let satan use them, There is a old saying, the devil made me do it, Just in that statement, it says that I let satan use me, & I didn't use my free will.

There is the Spirit of God, the spirit of man, and the spirit of Satan.
God judges us by our attitude, like why did we do what we did or say what we say.The spirit of Satan is to accuse the children of God.If that is what anybody is doing then yes they are of the devil.

Am I going to say you are a pawn of the devil, if you are an atheist who argues about spiritual truths? No. Quite the contrary, if you are arguing about spiritual truths, I believe you are doing your best to get to the bottom of those spiritual truths. And I am going to assume that you are BEING as open-minded as you suggest that I should remain. And I am going to welcome your argument, not in order to pre-judge that you are working on the side of some devil, but as a God-granted opportunity to discuss deep truths that I KNOW by personal experimentation over 37 years. And I, too, was once a person who did not believe in “God”... much less a “devil.” I felt the concept was silly, irrational, illogical, and quite unscientific -- a “notion,” if you will, embraced by people who were lacking in cerebral fortitude and desperate to make up for that somehow.
And the way I felt was the way my friends felt. Most of my friends who were atheists, have tended to view the devil as a fairy-tale or mythical figure, much like they view God or Jesus. They would never believe that they had been “used by the devil” because they do not believe in a devil or any other powerful spiritual entity. They will laugh at you, poke fun at every given opportunity to do so, and shoot down your every attempt to argue. Because the battle can not be won by logical argument. Or can it?
It is entirely possible for one to be influenced by or used by something that one does not believe in. In fact, many times throughout history, intelligent, other-wise sane and functional people have been used in such a way.
For many years, people did not believe there were particles smaller than one could see. That did not stop those particles from operating in the same generally-predictable ways that we now know them to operate.
For many years, Marie Curie did not want to believe or admit that radium and its radioactive brothers and sisters were killing her and her peers. Later, thankfully, she was able to see it and believe. (This did not stop her research, which I greatly admire about her!) But the only reason she ever did believe was by the application of scientific principles -- those SAME scientific principles she had been supposedly applying prior to her admission of the danger of radioactive elements.
You see, it simply took time for her to realize her error, and the potential dangers involved with something that she could neither see nor touch: radiation.
No, I am not equating the devil with radiation. But the devil is very real... not the fiery-red one with the pitchfork that you see at Halloween. I am talking about the one who is invisible and works in ways that you can neither see nor touch. How do I know he exists? By having applied scientific principles in my personal study of spiritual matters over the years. By first coming to know personally the God of all mankind through Jesus Christ. Before that... I had no knowledge that God or the devil existed. Since then, I have been open-mindedly watching the goings-on around me, comparing my experience to the experience of those in the Bible. Testing every word in the Bible. Not believing every word blindly, but trying it, applying it, and being certain it was real. Testing out all its promises that could possibly be tested, regarding faith and belief in God. He has proven Himself very alive and real, and interactive in my life. So has the devil been proven to exist, by systematic study of the written word about him, as compared to the way he works in my life and the lives of people around me.
How I wish that Marie Curie had applied the same scientific principles of radiation study to her study of the Bible and Jesus and even the devil. I believe you, like Marie Curie, are basically an honest person. A scientist goes into the laboratory to do research to perform an experiment without preconceived ideas. They go with an open mind and consider all truth objectively. If you don’t believe in the God of the Bible, I’m going to ask you to perform an experiment, as a matter of intellectual integrity.
Read the Bible every day, starting with the Gospel of John – just one hour a day, for 30 days. And every day, begin your reading with a prayer: "God, if You exist, and if Jesus Christ is your revelation to man and He truly died for my sins, I want to know You personally.”
When you have done this for 30 days, I would be interested to hear from you, regarding spiritual principles again. Let’s again discuss the devil, God, and Jesus. Let’s discuss atheism. Let’s see what conclusions YOUR scientific study brings about. Keep my posting ID, and let’s discuss it in e-mail further, after your 30-day experiment.
By the way... several devil-related questions, arguments, and accusations appear in this Gospel of John which I have suggested reading, some of them surprising even for Christians. I am not simply suggesting it in an off-topic manner. I believe that it will be of interest to atheists, Christians, and those of other faiths, alike.
