Koh Lanta, west coast, Thailand, to getaway. Absolute peace, easy to get to (1hr from Krabi or Phuket). Or Koh Tao, on the east, if you dive.
No beach in Bali is truly clean, Ive been many times. Still swimable tho! Same with most of Indonesia, the country teaches its citizens to use waterways as sewers and rubbish disposal, so what else should you expect. The Gili islands are pleasant tho, relaxing. Had problems with fundamentalists in Lombok.
Thailand is nearly as bad, but some effort is being made in places to clean it up. Dont go anywhere near Pattaya tho, thats revolting as a beach getaway. Fat male tourists in thongs, mmm, lovely! Haven't yet seen the Phillipines sorry, next trip!
But Id pick Australia over Asia for the "best beaches" catagory any day, especially the Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane.

The only country that has been in the world top 10 beach destination consistently, Thailand. So this should answer your question. But you do find nice beaches in Philippines and Indonesia too, as other posters had written.

it depends on the experience you are looking for, i have been to those 3 places and they were amazing!
indonesia was an amazing surfing spot, not that i surf but i enjoyed watching others doing it.
if you want to relax you can go to the philippines where its quiet and relaxing in most of the spots, to be honest do not go to major big cities just keep on traveling from an island to another
but Thailand?? if you want to understand life or want to have real fun, live the night life and party all day then just go to thailand, i went there 6 times and i still want to go there more and more, beaches are amazing the weather is fantastic... i mean words cant describe it you have to live the life to understand it.

Personally, I would choose the Philippines first, then Indonesia, then Thailand. They all have great beaches.

I am biased because I'm Thai so I'm bound to say Thailand.
Thailand also has the advantage of being a flight hub so its generally cheap to fly there.

i will opt for Krabi, thailand as they have so called uncommercialized beach. Bali is a bit too pack I would say

In Thailand, Phuket and Phi Phi are suppose to be the best.
In the Phillipines, go to Boracay.
In Indonesia, go to Bali.
Do some research and decide for yourself.

Philippines is much better, they have boracay, palawan, bohol and there is a resort in Palawan called Amanpulo, wow
