we used tea towels to wipe our backsides with, but had to make sure they were back in the kitchen when our mother was drying the dishes

Step 1. Flush a few more times to clean as well as you can. 2. Turn off the water to the toilet. 3. Flush again, now remove all the water that's left from the tank and the bowl. 4. Use a small compact mirror and a flashlight to look up inside the toilet for and thing that is not suppose to be there. Be patient, it takes a little practice. 5. If nothing is obstructing the bowl going up, then you will need to take the toilet loose from the floor, lean it forward very carefully, and look up the bottom side of the toilet bowl with the flashlight for and foreign objects. Hopefully it is that simple for you and can retrieve whatever it is easily. It will only cost you the price of a wax ring, about 5 dollars, to reset the toilet.

When I was a boy in the 1950's, nobody had very much of anything. Women stayed at home with the kids and dad went to work. I knew no-one who had a car.
To save money, my mother (and lots of my friends mothers) used to cut up newspaper into suitable-sized pieces and then drill a hole through one corner and hang it in the toilet to use as toilet paper.
That was to save money - however, today it makes a great deal of environmental sense to do this. It is perfect recycling and also saves money!

never really been in that situation, have been a public toilet and no paper so have used a packet of pocket tissues if needed. To be honest some public toilet paper feels like newspaper anyway!!

Had to use newspaper occasionally when we ran out when I used to live on a remote sheep station in New Zealand. However, as the paper was rather harsh on delicate female bottoms, I generally tried to make sure we were well stocked up!

in a pit latrine. Sure I did gal. Growing up in a poor family in a remote area, at least we had a toilet and it saved up the costs. Just make sure u soften it up first.
cant blame him if he never saw that happening though. But I guess hes got some stuff u think is weird that he is totally comfortable with him. Just dont force him to do it.
Ciao
