Yes all NHS dental treatment is free during pregnancy.

Any NHS dentist is bound to provide only treatment which is clinically necessary. That usually discludes cosmetic treatment where the patient is generally happy with their teeth in the first instance. I would argue that if you feel self-conscious about your smile and are uncomfortable with it - even to the point of being overly emotional about it, then that would be sufficient grounding to pursue treatment. The fact that your teeth feel uncomfortable when talking should be justification enough for treatment to be granted.

I suggest you take a trip to see your dentist and ask his opinion. If he is agreeable, he will happily refer you on to an appropriate orthodontist for proper treatment planning.

Please bear in mind that there is usually a waiting list for consultation and that your exemption is valid until your child is 1 year old. Incidentally, you could begin a course of orthodontic treatment 1 day before your child turns 1 and the treatment could last several years, but you still wouldnt have to pay for it.

Good luck

No, you're not entitled to free cosmetic treatment on the NHS during pregnancy - only basic dental care. And getting braces would be considered cosmetic.

Possibly. Dental treatment is free if you are pregnant and for a year after the birth of your child. But you are talking about orthodontal work which may not count. Ask for a consultation with your dentist ( which will be free ).

how about earning some money, being responsible and paying for your treatment, nothing is free, your free treatment is payed by hardworking taxpayers, don't be a burden to society
