There will most likely be snow in the mountains when you arrive on April 3rd. In fact, statistically, snow has fallen in the area during every month of the year except July and August and what's more, the biggest snowfall in history happened one year on March 27th. The temperature range in April is 28 deg. F (- 2 deg. C) to 58 deg. F ( 14.5 deg C), most likely lower in the early part of the month.

The area known as Snow Play (http://www.bigbearsnowplay.com/) remains open until Easter which is April 8 this year so you'll have plenty of time to enjoy after your arrival. Remember too that the ski areas make their own artificial snow with machines (and water from the lake) so as long as they're open, you'll have plenty of snow.

As for activities, I don't know about husky rides but you can check with the Snow Play people. Horseback-riding is pretty popular there though. About boating, there are boats for rent (hire) at the marinas (http://www.bigbear.com/activities/recreation/summer/boating_water/)... ) I'm sure you can find a guide quite easily, especially for fishing trips.

However, a simpler way for boating would be to purchase a ticket as a passenger on a tourist boat that take does tours on the lake. The guides are included! The marinas are open Spring, Summer and Fall and should be open by the time you arrive or shortly thereafter.

sure! Snow point would be right down to 2500 ft, so carry them. and do not forget to hold approximately $40 for those adult males to place them on for you... till you desire to circulate slowly around interior the snow. in case you do no longer desire to pay them, I relatively advise practising on your storage or driveway.
