Fishing requires basic knowledge of the waters in which one goes for fishing,What types of fishes are more often seen in that water , which is the monsoon period, etc.Usually fishes come to shallow waters for feeding, where smaller varieties of fishes are plenty.Secondly during monsoon they lay eggs.Hence there is good possiblity to get better catches in monsoon. The bait you use decides what type of fishes you are trying to catch.Dead shrimps are good bait. But small live fishes on the hook can be better for catching some categories of big fishes.Try to keep at least 25 meters distance from the bait if you are targetting big catches.

Sounds like you're salt water fishing! The Bait depends on what type fish you are seeking. Big fish can be found in shallow or deep water. If you are fishing from the beach you only need to cast out into water that is about 3 feet deep. Check with your local bait shop to see what bait is working best in your area. Live bait always catches more than dead. Squid is a good universal saltwater bait. Fresh water fishing is more complexed.

Fish the edges..shallow water to deep water, clean water dirty water, fast water to slow water, water in the shadows. Fish the edges and you will find the fish. Also see where the bait is located. Fish using what is in the area you are fishing. Surf=sand fleas, small crabs, finger mullet, shrimp. Saltwater inshore try small baitfish, crabs, shrimp and use the smallest hook you can use, and keep the line as thin as you can. You make break a few off, but at least you will hook up with more fish.

Consider this a lake or river has certain places where the food supplies are and that is where the fish are most likely to be which is to say mostly in the shallow waters. Find where their dinner table is at and you will catch fish.

The secret (it's not secret) is to locate feeding fish. It really is that simple. Oh...and having adequate tackle to land the fish helps too. My dad taught me to fish and his instructions were "wet bait catch fish." So stay committed and you will succeed.

Happy times, tight lines.
